About Newton Transport
In 1973 when Newton Transport Ltd, was formed, John Newton,
our current Chairman could see a gap in the market in Kent. At
that time the county was home to a number of thriving manufacturing
based industries crying out for reliable and cost effective transport
and distribution services.
John bought his first truck (an Atkinson Borderer Mark 2)
and set to work for some large 'blue chip' companies including
Bowaters, Metal Box, Reeds and Sheerness Steel.
The business grew rapidly through the 70s and 80s and as extra
assistance was clearly needed, John's sons David and Simon joined
the company in 1985 and 1987 respectively.
Together they have moved the company forward to where it is
today - turning over some £ 6 million and employing over
40 staff.
Newton Transport moved to purpose built premises at the current
Snodland site in 1997, and with continued investment looks to
sustain its position as a leading player in the UK next day distribution
sector.
